Shaun's BasketBall Game

My brother-in-law plays basketball for ECA in Colorado Springs. Yesterday was the first game I saw. He is pretty good. This is the first year he has been able to play, so the kids are learning basic skills. I guess the first game they played, they didn't take many shots because they were trying to master passing drills. It is pretty cool to watch though. It makes me excited for when Noah grows up and starts stuff like this (if he wants to). Shaun is such an athlete. He has played baseball, soccer and basketball so far. It is exciting to see kids involved in extra curricular activities.

Noah's Progress

Noah is getting better at walking every day. He is almost walking all the time. He prefers to walk over crawling now. He gets mad when he falls down and finds the closest thing he can to stand up on. I am so excited.

I am in a bible study through church and we are going through Isaiah. It has been so good, but really challenging and convicting. Basically, God speaks to Isaiah and tells him to go to the people of Judah and tell them to follow Him and obey His commands. Over and over God gives this message through the prophets and every time, the people turn their hearts from the Lord. God continues to be patient and loving and the people continue to turn away. How frustrating that must be. I am learning all about this right now in my relationship with my son. Noah is starting to learn what discipline is all about. I love him with all my heart and would do anything for him. I know he loves me, but he doesn't like to do what I tell him to do. So he is disobedient. My heart breaks when I have to discipline Noah and see him cry. My patience is tested all the time now. It is incredibly hard to stay patient when I tell him over and over again "Do Not Touch!" I have realized by living it, how God's heart must break when we turn and disobey him. Yet he continues to be patient. What an amazing God we have.

Reading time

Reading

I am a big fan of the baby wise series. The most recent book I am reading is actually called "Toddler Wise" but it is the same author. So this book is about raising a well behaved, happy toddler. It is pretty exciting stuff. Noah is still a little young for most of it, but I am enjoying trying new things out. They encourage you to structure you child's day. So they say give them free play time (which means let them choose what they want to do and play with) room time or crib time (where you give them a couple of toys to focus on) and structured play time (where mom or dad chooses the activity). I am giving Noah reading time, and it is too cute. The point is to get your child to sit in one place and focus on something for a little while. Noah lasts about 2 minutes and then he is done, but it will gradually get longer and longer and he starts to enjoy the activity more. After he is done turning pages and looking at it, I will read to him and we have a great time.
